Not bad for the price.

The book is more a glossary than a handbook. The author's 70 topics are touched on very superficially with just enough of an introduction to make the reader want to learn more about them - by consulting other resources. Many of the topics in this book are covered more adequately in Nancy Tague's The Quality Toolbox, but the ones that Tague doesn't cover are nicely introduced here. There is definitely value in this book, but I think I would have sent it back if it had cost much more than it did. If you haven't had any other introduction to quality or business management tools, this could be a good start. Or, find a copy of the table of contents and do a google search to learn just as much, if not more. If you're a serious practitioner or student of the subject, pay the price for something meatier like Tague or Breyfogle.

Great Book -- helped me pass the test.

The PMP Test is an experience in itself. It requires hours of studying and memorizing all the terms, processes, process groups, inputs, tools & techniques, outputs, knowledge areas, and Earned Value Management formulas. This book interprets the PMBOK language into understandable english. It also follows the PMBOK, chapter by chapter, section by section, so it's easy to read the PMBOK and then the book to see what the PMBOK is really trying to say. This was the only textbook I used for studying for the exam. What else can I say, but "I PASSED"!

Great Read and NOT Boring

Very helpful and insighful book. The explanations to the answers to the questions were really helpful. Also, the practice exams on the CD were a big help. Another part of the book that helps is the e-book. However, you can't print out the e-book unless you download .pdf software that will get rid of the non-printing restriction. A bit selfich, is you ask me. But I guess it's a good way to prevent people from reselling the content as a .pdf file.

I purchased this book in May of 2007 to prepare for my CAPM exam in August. I am happy to say that I passed the exam on my first try as a result of using this book. The practice exams are an excellent resource to prepare you to pass the CAPM. I plan on using this book when I sit for my PMP next year!

In its own way the book presents the "back story" and asks that the reader use the abilities inherent in all of us to seek the divine God of love and peace and to reject the baggage of time, prejudice, hate and misperceptions associated with Bible stories reflecting a culture in which most of us do not, and, would not want to live.

Read this with an open mind and you will know that God has given unto man (& woman) the ability to communicate spiritually. Read this with preconceived notions from the viewpoint of human superiority which is how most will do, and you may claim this to be heresy. Either way, it is a must read. Thank God that we have a teacher/writer with not only the education to back up lessons but also the logic to understand the perspective behind religion.

About the Author
Forced by cancer to reexamine and redirect her life, Maya Tiwari left a successful New York design career and returned to her native India to study Ayurvedic medicine. Now back in the U.S., she currently lectures and offers workshops on Ayurveda.

Not just another book for your collection

I had this in my library along with another of Maya's books. This library was large at that time and I simply did not have time to read through it. I ended up giving it away to a friend and a year later read Path of Practice by the same author. I fell in love with the writing and subject and had to purchase this book again. I found it to be a wonderful cookbook but more in that it introduced me to a way of life and a perspective on health that I was unaware of prior. I highly recommend this book to learn about ayurveda and begin to experience it first hand. But be warned, I have been studying Ayurveda since and this could just change your life!

Comprehensive, Clear and Accessible

I found this book to be a very good introduction to Ayurveda -- comprehensive, clear and accessible. I'm somewhat surprised at reviews that found it otherwise. It covers the fundamentals without burying the person who is new to the concepts in an overwhelming amount of intimidating detail. I have purchased several copies as gifts.

Though I am adamantly not a religious person, I find much value in the spiritual and mystical readings when viewed as parables, which I think they are, and in this context gain a better understanding of the belief systems underlying the practice. I wholeheartedly concur with those who appreciated the expanded explanations of combination doshas as I believe that stopping with the three dosha types is much too simplistic and the food lists provided for each major and combination dosha types were extremely helpful.

I have not remained terribly consistent in my practice, but certain recommendations have proven extremely beneficial to my overall health and sense of well being. And when I feel extremely out of balance, I return to it over and over for motivation.

Balane Your Life...Great find on Amazon!

I have had this book for 17 years and find that this book was so informative for me that I just had to buy one for my best friend. We are genuinely appreciative for the teachings and are learning more about life each day. As a cancer survivor, I take life very seriously. I don't have time to read quick fix no effort books.
